Oxleys .Lack of Support by Owners..WHY? From Derek Walker Great Gable Weeks 21&35« Back to Questions List

Oxleys is now closed Mon/Tues/Wed. This is due to very poor support from Owners. Are owners so uninterested? If so it will close permanently .Can I ask the owners to indicate their support or at least give their constructive views/comments please?

We too make a point of using Oxley’s Bistro for evening meals once a or twice a week during our stays. Why drive or taxi when we can eat well only a short stroll away?

We have always started our week in May with a meal at Oxleys and have enjoyed a hot drink after swimming. They kindly lent us champagne glasses and provided extra ice. It would be a great loss if Oxleys were to close. Please support them!

I agree. We use Oxleys for dinner at least once a week and try and have coffees/ drinks etc throughout the week. It is difficult when the hours are so random though…. for example we were there in Aug bank holiday week and Oxleys was closed the entire bank holiday Monday, not even open for drinks! Also, we booked for dinner on Friday of our week, only to be told on the morning that there was ”trouble with the chef” which, according to Nathan, was not unusual, so there was no dinner service that evening. They really need to sort it out if it is to be popular.

Just wondering is Oxleys bistro being marketed effectively such that outside members could be encouraged to partake of a meal included within any spa day offers?
If the restaurant is not currently cost effective could this not be reviewed and monitored to ensure that owners do not lose the convenience of an onsite restaurant whilst also maximising the outside marketing potential?
We too, on occasions, have used the bistro and find it very convenient.

We visit Underscar twice a year and use Oxleys once or twice each visit. Why? Its a good value quality restaurant staffed by friendly people. I agree use or lose and it would be sad to see it go., it that were to happen due to lack of support. Gone are the days now of lugging box after box of food into a lodge only to carry most of it back out again! Come on owners try it!

We have always supported Oxleys however other owners don’t feel the same, I fear we’ll lose this facility which will be a shame.

We always use it at least once per stay. Basis of ’Use it or lose it’
