Contact details for Chairman of Underscar Owners committee and concerns re owner participation.« Back to Questions List

Please can anyone provide the contact email details for Chris Blizard the new Chairman of the Owners Committee. Also are the Committee members reviewing this owners forum as we haven’t had feedback recently on the forum…only newsletters which doesn’t cover owners more detailed concerns. It would be reassuring to know that they are at the very least reading these questions and remain aware of concerns . Can I also ask why has the suggestion for a link to this forum on the newsletters not been considered ( it could be a standard practice to include at the bottom of every newsletter) , as this would encourage owners to have greater participation in Underscar affairs and has the potential to improve transparency and feedback to assist subsequent decision making and minimise misinterpretations.

I am sorry to say that the board member who used to monitor the Forum has, in recent months, had a very difficult time culminating with the death of a close family member. We intend to re-establish that arrangement as soon as possible with another Board member.
We need new members on the Board (including one with specific responsibility for Owner Liaison, including drafting and editing regular Newsletters). If anyone wishes to put themselves forward for consideration, please let me know. Joining the Board would represent a really positive way to help.

Can I also suggest that, if any owner wishes to raise anything with me or any other board member, the best approach, at least for now, would be to use the “Contact Us” section of the website. Asking a question or making suggestions within the Forum is likely to be less than ideal. It will not be possible to accept all suggestions – the Board has an overall remit to look after the interests of owners as a whole, not just those who express their views through the Forum. Often there are wider considerations not known to or identified by an individual owner. If the question and response are relevant to all owners, consideration can be given to placing both on the Forum.
Redeveloping the Owners’ Area of the website is on the list of objectives but there are currently more urgent priorities (such as increasing the rental success rate). Managing the Owners’ Area including keeping it up to date and responding to all points raised takes considerable amounts of staff time, it could be as much as £3,000 per year. At the moment that staff time is perhaps better spent on other aspects of the management of the Underscar estate. The next Newsletter will refer to a suggested approach.
