Owners participation in purchasing« Back to Questions List

Why are you thinking of replacing the 'Wall art' s in the apartments when we still have those awful plastic/perspex coffee tables. These should be a priority for replacement , not the pictures which are quite inoffensive.

I agree with the above, that all owners should have a forum for participation in articles being replaced or not depending upon the quality at the time. Easy access to rental /swap/ resale information would be helpful also.

I do like the new bathrooms though.

We found the coffee table matched the other furniture, (kitchen table etc), and was not too distasteful. It would have benefited however from a protective glass cover (as in the bedrooms) to enhance their longevity from stains, but this would have required reviewing from a cost effective perspective.
Having made that observation it would have been good to have researched a black edged coffee table with glass insert, from a practical and aesthetic perspective, to match the other existing tables in the sitting area, but perhaps that was prohibitively expensive?
It would be useful however to be advised of the relevant costs re all suggested replacements if their impact on the management fees subsequently proves significant.
Wall art replacement would appear a ’nicety’ under the current financial climate as opposed to an essential.
Tifkat…. your observation re heating systems appears to have been covered in a previous thread titled”Environmental concerns – arising from our electricity usage”, if that helps.
It now appears that a default for low heat has been followed in the lodges, and we understand that the bathroom underfloor heating has the option to request the maintenance team to increase the underfloor heating if required during the occupancy (and vice versa), but still questions remain as to the removal of any of the programmers.
Kind regards to all..

The new wooden coffee tables are clunky and cheap looking , similar quality to the cheap tables and chairs, they don’t match in style. The new lampshades are really small ,on original large stands .(laughable) There’s no care in replacing items with similar quality or style . If the pictures are replaced I dread to think what with . Every time we come there is a noticeable decline in style and quality of the furniture.

Given the 12% hike in management fees isn’t it time that owners were provided with greater transparency and inclusion in any decisions relating to ”replacements” that subsequently impact the management fees?
It would greatly assist to have relevant costings associated with any form of suggested replacements, to better assess priorities i.e. for owners to be made aware of the impact of ”niceties” as opposed to ”essentials”.
Perhaps such ”niceties” should put on the back burner so to speak (reassessed) until such time as the management fees are able to be reduced.

I’ll chip in with asking why a perfectly good programmable heating system that turned itself on and off at roughly the right times has been replaced, at least in Hindscarth. Now it’s fully manual, so you need to remember to turn it off at night or you bake, and if you do turn it off, first one up has to turn the heating back on. Five star? Really? Who gave permission for this?

You can have my awful wooden coffee table in Newlands, I’d kill for the old perspex one, the wooden one is like an OAP home. I’m sixty and I wouldn’t give it house room.
