You have seen the proposals from the Manor to raise the boundary wall between the front path to the herb garden cottages and the garden area to the east of the Manor conservatory to six or seven feet high. This wall is being built to replace the overgrown shrubbery, which has already been stripped out. It will ensure privacy between the ground floor bedrooms and the garden area, which is likely to be a relaxation area for the Manor occupants. It will leave an uninterrupted view from the living room windows out over Derwentwater.

We have been invited to express a view on what finish will be best for the occupants of these cottages and are therefore keen to get the views of owners.

Choice A

If the wall is painted white it will require annual maintenance by UOCL (an additional cost) but will improve the light in the front bedrooms.

Choice B

If the wall is finished in local stone it will blend in to the landscape, and have minimal maintenance costs.
