Thursday the 25th of June - An Unforgettable Summer Dining Experience with Julian Ankers

Introducing a new chef to the Secret Table. We are delighted to welcome the founder of The Cumbrian Chef, Julian Ankers to our kitchen to showcase his passion for seasonal, locally sourced Cumbrian ingredients.

Julian’s culinary journey began in Staffordshire, where he owned a restaurant in Eccleshall for 14 years. In the early 2000s, he moved to the Lake District with his young family, eager to embrace a new life in this stunning landscape. Building on his experience he launched a fine dining restaurant in Kendal, where he worked for seven years before moving to Lancaster University to take on the role of Executive Chef.

Now, Julian has poured all of his passion and experience into founding The Cumbrian Chef, a private dining company that brings restaurant-quality cuisine to life using the finest local produce from trusted suppliers like Cartmel Game, Higginson’s Butchers, Caterite Food Service, Winter Tarn Dairy, and Stonehouse Smokery.

Canapes

Starter – Stonehouse Smokery & Eden Valley Charcuterie Plate
Chef says: “A delightful selection of artisan cured meats and smoked delicacies, accompanied by Eden Valley brie and Hawkshead chutney, showcasing the best of Cumbrian produce.”

Main Course – Rump of Kentmere Lamb
Chef says: “Succulent roast rump of lamb served with a mini shepherd’s pie, complemented by tender Spilmans asparagus spears and a rich port wine reduction, celebrating the flavours of the region.”

Dessert – Trio of Miniature Desserts
Chef says: “A delectable trio featuring:

  • Lemon Amaretto Posset: A refreshing and creamy citrus delight.
  • Traditional Apple Crumble: Warm and comforting, served with a hint of spice.
  • Decadent Chocolate Slice: Rich and indulgent, perfect for chocolate lovers.”
