Join Sayfon on a personal journey of Thai flavours—rooted in her father’s teachings and the warmth of her childhood in rural Chiang Rai, northern Thailand.
Her culinary path began at home, where her father taught her to cook traditional Thai street food. Together, they would prepare meals wrapped in banana leaves for the village market, long before plastic packaging was available. These early lessons weren’t just about cooking—they were about care, resourcefulness, and sharing. Now, years later, that same spirit lives on in every dish she prepares.
After moving to England in 2002, Sayfon and her late husband opened A Taste of Thailand at Shemara, a restaurant that became a beloved part of the Keswick community for over a decade taking the title of Tripadisors No1 Lake District Restaurant for many years! Their food was more than a menu—it was a bridge between cultures, a tribute to home, and a way of bringing people together in the comfort of their living room!
Now Fon returns to craft an intimate dining experience made possible by three generations of her family. It carries forward the legacy of her father’s flavours, is rooted in the love and friendship shared at the table, and is supported by the next generation who help bring it all to life. An authentic taste of Thailand, shared in the heart of the Lake District.
